About Me

Official Portrait

My background

My name is Elijah Manley, and I'm a rock star political activist born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I graduated from Fort Lauderdale High in June of 2017, and I am running to be your next Representative on the Broward County School Board. I am a organizer, activist, and a Publisher. I am studying political science at Broward College and will pursue a career in constitutional law. When not engaged in politics, I spend my time writing, giving public speeches, organizing protests, and traveling.

My top issues

There are so many issues facing Broward County, such as: lack of transparency, fiscal and financial irresponsibility, a failed bonds program, underpaid teachers and clerical staff, corrupt contracting deals, and a corroded educational curriculum called common core. In my platform page, you'll find out what I stand for and why our system is failing. We must transform our district into a democratized schooling system, which values laborers (teachers) & clients (students), and not corporations. I am committed to that effort.

My involvement & Activism

Here are some of the organizations I serve on:

  • Vice President/Board of Directors at the National Youth Rights Association
  • Publisher/CEO at Holt Press, a digital news service
  • Organizer at the Black Lives Matter Alliance of Broward
  • Member of the Miami Climate Alliance
  • Member of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH)
  • Contributer to The Westside Gazette
  • National Delegate to the Green Party's National Committee.
  • Campaigns I worked on and supported: Charlie Crist for Governor (2014), Alcee Hastings for Congress (2014), Perry Thurston for FL AG (2014), Jill Stein 2016, Dean Trantalis (2015/2018), Dale Holness (2016), etc.
